• Techniques of Healing

I am often asked what is there in the past life regression that heals. This has led me to delineate a series of processes and techniques which have healing potentials. In the process of exploration of past life experiences, I would keep a close watch on activation of negative feelings. When a client reports or appears to have negative and painful feelings and experience, I would apply one or the other techniques of healing to eliminate or mitigate the potency of painful experience. In my observations, I have seen that in most of the cases, application of these techniques produce instant and major healing. The repeat review of the healed traumatic experiences, lead to lesser and lesser intensity of painful feelings.

    1. Ventilation: Also known as catharsis. While using this technique, I allow the client to describe his/her experiences in as much detail as possible with minimum interruptions. This sharing on the part of the client itself has healing potentials because in the process of narrations the emotions accompanied with the experience get discharged thereby producing healing effects. It is said that sharing of one’s sorrow with others reduces the intensity of the sorrow.
    2. Closure: Upon completion of the description of a regression experience by a client, I would simply suggest him/her that this is a past experience; that time has already gone; it should have no meaning in the present time. This emphasis on time frame is powerful in healing past life wounds.
    3. Insight: It is a technical term which means understanding the causes of one’s emotional problems. The past life traumas and experiences are considered causal sources for producing current life problems. When a client completes description of any of his/her past life traumatic experiences during regression and even after trance termination, I would simply ask him/her if the relived experience has anything to do with the current life problems. Initially, there may be a simple negation by the client but within a few moments of raising this query the clients usually come up with a detailed account of connections of past life experiences with the current life issues. This linking by the client usually produces an ‘ah’ experience and the clients would usually remark that ‘I can now understand why I have been having those current life issues’.
    4. Deriving Meaning: I hypothesize that each and every traumatic experience contains one or the other learning opportunities. If one can pause with a mind set of exploring the lessons involved in an experience, this can enhance understanding and learning which has potentials for healing. For application of this technique, after description of the events during regression and even after trance termination, I would ask the client to review the experience and decipher what kind of lessons and learning were involved in the experience.
    5. Regression to the Time of Death: I realized that the traumatic experiences at the time of death do not get shared with others and tend to hang on the psychoplasm which have high potentials for producing psychological and physical problems in subsequent life. The felt emotions like anger, fear, insecurity, revenge, guilt, hate; at the time of death can cause deep impressions on psychoplasm and continue over next life. For example, a person had an automobile accident and died on the spot. The pain and suffering between the period of accident and actual death may persist in the psychoplasm because a person did not get an opportunity to express those experiences to others. In subsequent birth, those painful experiences can produce problems like phobia of motor vehicles, headache, epilepsy and the like.

In view of high potentials of terminal experiences, I recommend that a regression should compulsory be conducted up to the point of death of previous personality. To do so, I would suggest to the subject to skip forward to the time of death and report what is happening. Then I would move to the point of the separation of psychoplasm from the body and enquire what is the first thought or feeling at the time of separation. Also I would suggest to the client to review the entire life that has ended; what lessons were learnt, what lessons were left incomplete and what emotions are still hanging on because of the experiences in that life. At times, the psychoplasm would move upward rapidly during this exploration. I would suggest the subject to take it back to the time of death and even into the body for as complete exploration as possible. This procedure has high potentials of producing therapeutic effects and understanding into the issues of current life. If required the death moments could be reviewed multiple times to clear up all of its residues. The target is the closure of all the emotional residues of the death moments of previous life.

    1. Connecting to Past Life Strength: This technique can be used for promoting positive aspects in a client and can be useful for the clients having low mood and feelings of inadequacy. While exploring past life experiences, a client can come up with a life full of expertise and advanced skills in any area like spirituality, medical science, or effective coping mechanisms. If I come across such an experience in past life, I would enquire from the subject if he/she can somehow connect to those strengths of that life to the present life. Alternatively, a person having low mood and feelings of inferiority can be suggested to regress to a life of strength in which he/she had extra-ordinary or specialized abilities. Such a regression, can give a powerful insight and strength to the subject in the current life which has potentials for raising the ego strength and confidence.
    2. Inviting Past Life Entity for Healing: In this technique, the past life personality of the client or any other significant figure from the past and even the enemy can be invited to heal the wounds of the client. The mere visualization by the subject, in response to such a call, can have profound spiritual and healing experience.
    3. Forgiveness: Seeking forgiveness and forgiving others during a regression experience can either be a smooth and easy task or a tough task for a client. The clients who fail to forgive the previous life characters can persistently have feelings of anger and other complications in the current life. The act of forgiving others has powerful healing potentials if it can somehow be accomplished during a regression session. A variety of procedures and instructions can be evolved to inculcate forgiveness. It need be done gradually. I would first ask the subject to seek forgiveness from others for his/her minor wrong doings and then proceed to major ones and then I would urge the client to forgive others for their minor wrong doings and then proceed to the major ones. Then, I would encourage the subject to forgive himself/herself for any act he/she might have done in that life which was not acceptable to his/her conscience.
    4. Invoking Divine Intervention: When a subject experiences traumas in previous life, at times, I would invite some divine force from the cosmos to intervene and heal the client. For doing so, I would suggest to the subject that a fairy is coming with her magic wand and healing his/her pains; or a divine light, divine energy or a being from spiritual plane is manifesting before him/her to heal his/her pains, wounds and suffering; allow it to heal the pains and suffering.
    5. Imagined Herbal/Spiritual Applications: I would use this procedure for handling pains during regression experience or for handling post hypnotic complications. For application of this technique, I would tell the subject that I have got a very powerful herbal application or a spiritual balm which I am now applying over the pain affected area. I would then keep my palm about 2-3 inches above the pain site, make some movements as if applying some ointment and continue to suggest that the pain is disappearing and the source of this pain is getting healed and dissolved. I also apply it in a little different way. I would suggest to the client in pain, that a spiritual and divine healing energy is permeating his/her body and getting concentrated over the affected areas, nourishing each and every cell of the affected part, when the healing is complete let me know. This usually results in instant healing of pain.
    6. Empathic Understanding: When I come across interpersonal dispute during regression experience, I would suggest the client step out of his/her mind, get into the mind of the other person, think his/her thoughts, feel his/her feelings and figure out what is happening inside that person; when done come out of the other person’s mind 100% and get back into one’s own mind. This simple procedure has high potentials for resolving interpersonal differences (adapted from Baldwin’s Techniques).
    7. Adult Perspective: In age regression, when a client presents an issue which has become valueless at the present moment or which has growth potentials, I at times use an adult perspective approach to resolve it. For that, I would say that now you have become a grown up adult with a wide range of experiences; I now invite your adult self to re-view this event of childhood from an adult perspective and let me now. This usually resolves the issues.
    8. Handling Metaphysical Causes: Taking a lead from the work of Louise L. Hay I keep a close watch on the presence of metaphysical causes in current or former lives. Strong emotions like guilt, anger, sadness, disgust, resentment, fear can cause tissue damages resulting in physical illnesses. The resolution of these issues is expected to bring out therapeutic effects in a client.
    9. Regression to Life as Victim vs. Life as Perpetrator: The case studies are filled with the healing outcomes of past life regressions to the lives as victims. In many cases such a regression can produce desired results. For example, pain in leg was removed because of reliving the life in which the subject was bitten by a snake. In some cases, repetitive patterns of victimization can be seen; such as there were automobile accidents in more than one previous life including the current one. In such cases, an approach can be taking back a person to the life as perpetrator; that is, in which the subject caused similar harm to others. For instance, killing others deliberately by automobiles. The regression to a life as perpetrator could possibly activate guilt feelings and resentments; hence a I remain prepared for inculcating forgiveness and release of the resentments.
    10. Cord Cutting: This technique is useful in dealing with interpersonal problems.

Sit down (or lie down) comfortably, feel and experience as if you are relaxing in a spiritually charged place, and tell me what you are experiencing… now visualize yourself in a safe and secure spiritual place, feel yourself surrounded by a ball of pure white light. This is the ball of spiritual light which will protect and energize your efforts of cutting the cord of attachment to that individual that you wish to cut. When you are ready call the person. Once you visualize him /her standing in front of you, look down, you will see a cord from your naval to his/her which is thick and dark. It is important to know that you are cutting only cord of attachment that causes conflict in the relation, not the positive ties of love and respect. Look into his/her eyes; in the voice of power speak the unspeakable to him that you are cutting the cord with him/her. You say anything to release the pent up energies and emotions. Once you have spoken everything, then visualize a crystal knife in your hand, hold the cord with your free hand and cut it from very close to your body, saying I cut the cord of attachment with you. You then offer the crystal knife to him/her, so that she/he can cut it from his/her side. He/she may choose to cut or may not, if he/she does then watch the cord fall to the ground and turning into 100 butterflies, which flutter away and then send him/her away. If he/she chooses not to cut then wrap the cord around him/her and banish him/her away from your space. The cord of attachment is cut and you are now free from him/her. (PS: seek confirmation from the subject at appropriate time to ensure if visualization is proceeding as intended) [Shared by Ms. Stella Doshi].

    1. Increased Aqua Intake: A spiritual healer recommended to me for advising clients to increase water intake for a few days, this would help for cleaning the body system. I have now integrated this recommendation into my work up with the clients.
    2. Integration and Debriefing: Upon completion of the trance work and trance termination, I do not disburse the client immediately. I allow the client to get back to his/her usual self which takes a few minutes. In this period, a client usually cleans his/her face, makes postural adjustment and drinks water. In general, at this time a client tend to speak more, add more descriptions and provide newer understanding and past life connections. I do allow 10-15 minutes time for this activity. Initially, I would listen to the client and allow him/her to ventilate with minimum interruptions from my side. Depending upon the descriptions and the understanding communicated by the client, I would raise some queries with an intention to amplify the past life connections of the present life issues. I would often ask how that experience is connected to the present life issues. I would reinforce the description of the subject by my non-verbal responses like nodding, orienting towards the client and so on. I would terminate the session, when I judge that the client has shared his/her regression experience in sufficient details and adequate understanding has been communicated.

In some cases, I observe amnesia for the trance work. This amnesia can be total or partial and transient or durable. In case of complete amnesia, I do not make any probe and re-assure the client by saying that amnesia does happen and it may either be transient or permanent. He/she need not get involved in too many efforts for retrieving the regression experience. In case of partial amnesia, I would reassure the client and continue to do the integration to the extent permissible by the intact memory. I would also tell the subject, that there may be activation of some dreams and those dreams may also get repeated. It is a normal phenomenon. Also I tell the client that he/she may release additional experiences of past life during periods of rests or while passing into sleep.

A client may become skeptic and negate the entire procedure as imagination or fantasy. I do not like to get into the ego struggle with the client and gently tell him/her that his/her regression experience was a typical one that is observed in a regression session, if he/she has a different feeling, it might have been the result of one or the other specific expectations and he/she can develop her own reasons in favor of the regression experience because I myself have not yet been able to develop a rationale response to this feeling of imagination. For me it is OK. I recommend weekly sessions of past life regression however, it can be more or less depending upon the requirement.

    1. Reality Orientation: A client can come up with some complications because of regression experience such as the enemy of the previous life is present in the current life environment and he/she expresses a feeling of taking revenge. In such instances, I would go for reality orientation by telling him/her that the previous time is already over long back and the current life has a different set of laws and consequences for one’s actions and the previous life deeds cannot be cited as evidence for justifying it. He/she needs to resolve all those issues at psychological level; not at the concrete physical level in the way he/she intend to do so. In some cases, even a fantasy can contaminate even a seemingly valid past life experience. One would need to own the responsibility of one’s actions if they get influenced by the regression experience for taking undesired and unwanted actions even if one thinks that it was justified by the past life encounter.
